Brookhaven considers short term loan

BROOKHAVEN, Aug. 6, 2015 — Officials in the City of Brookhaven may buy this old school building on Skyland Drive for the Brookhaven Innovation Academy charter school. The site of the Georgia Department of Vital Statistics is about a mile and a half from the Brookhaven-Oglethorpe MARTA train station, which could make it a convenient destination for students from outside the city. The Brookhaven City Council will discuss consideration and approval of a short term loan for $3,500,000 during the city council meeting 7 p.m. Tuesday at Brookhaven City Hall, 4362 Peachtree Road.
The city would use the money to pay bills while waiting for tax revenue to be available. Those funds aren’t expected until close to the end of the fiscal year.
Another agenda item considered is the Intergovernmental Agreement with Georgia Department of Transportation and MARTA for the Peachtree Road Livable Center Initiative for pedestrian and streetscape improvements. The council will also consider approval of the revision to the city’s Paid Time Off and Sick Time Benefits Policy.
