The city of Brookhaven’s council announced Friday that it has reached an agreement with Comcast regarding franchising fees, in order to offer Brookhaven residents high speed internet service. Comcast will pay the city almost $982,000 for fees collected between January 2013 and March 2015.

Future payments from Comcast will be made quarterly. Comcast representative Andy Macke confirmed that Comcast is already offering Dekalb County businesses 10 gigabytes of internet speed, and will begin offering Brookhaven residents 2 gigabytes in May.
