Georgia DOT construction partners will close both lanes of Interstate 985 northbound for the transport and installation of bridge beams used to construct the Georgia Express Lane extension on Interstate 85.
A single lane closure on I-985 north will begin at 9 p.m. July 27 and progress to a double lane closure at 11 p.m. This double lane closure will remain until 5 a.m. July 28.
Both northbound lanes will be closed on I-985 at the I-85/I-985 split. Traffic traveling northbound on I-985 will be detoured by way of I-85 to exit 115 then to State Route 20 to the I-985 on ramp.
The detour is approximately six miles in length. Drivers are asked to slow down when approaching the work zone.
