Cobb County police have found remains in the backyard of a Kennesaw residence where a U.S. Army veteran was last seen in March 2014.

While police don’t know if the remains are human, they confirmed the house in the 500 block of Farmbrook Trail was where Charles Massner went to spend the night with a friend more than three years ago, Cobb spokeswoman Officer Alicia Chilton said.

“We cannot say that we believe the remains to be Mr. Massner at this time,” Chilton said.

Detectives were working Tuesday afternoon to secure warrants after officers received a tip that led them to the remains, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The current resident of the Farmbrook Trail house did not live there three years ago, police said.

Massner, a married father of two daughters, served in Iraq.
