Human remains found in Lumpkin County were that of missing Gwinnett County mother Tosha Herron, GBI officials confirmed Friday afternoon.
The 36-year-old mother of three was reported missing in October after her family found her car 150 feet down a ravine in the Chestatee Wildlife Management area. She was headed to Blue Ridge at the time, her family said.
The GBI and officials with the Gwinnett and Lumpkin sheriff’s offices found the remains Thursday night after expanding the search to the ravine off Ga. 129 in Lumpkin County. Officials had previously expanded the search when Herron first went missing.
A boot matching one that belonged to Herron was also found in the search, GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles said.
The remains were taken to the GBI Medical Examiner’s office, Miles said.
Officials did not release details on what may have happened to Herron.
