A man was killed Tuesday afternoon when gunfire erupted outside a Walmart in South Fulton, police said.

The man was involved in an altercation in the parking lot of the store on Old National Highway when another man pulled a gun and fired several shots, striking him in the chest, South Fulton police spokesman Lt. Jubal Rogers said.

After being shot, the victim ran back inside the store for help, police said. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died. Authorities are still searching for the shooter.

At least two bullets struck the windshield of a car parked in front of the store, Channel 2 Action News reported.
