The body of a 58-year-old man was pulled from Lake Lanier on Sunday, officials said.

John Lawrence Stanford was found in the water at the Aqualand Marina about 9:30 a.m., Hall County sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks said in a news release.

Stanford had been staying on a friend’s boat and the owner found his body, Wilbanks said.

His mother, Mary Jones of Fayetteville, said Stanford had a home in Orlando, Fla., but had been working in the Conyers area. He was the father of two, Jones said.

No foul play is suspected and there were no obvious signs of trauma, Wilbanks said. Stanford had last been seen Saturday.

An investigation is ongoing.
