All lanes are open again after a crash and fuel spill on I-85 South at I-985 in Gwinnett County, fire officials said.

This incident, reported about 3 p.m. Tuesday, involved a jackknifed tractor-trailer with a ruptured fuel tank, Gwinnett fire spokesman Tommy Rutledge said. The driver reported minor injuries and was checked by paramedics at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The truck blocked lanes south of Ga. 20 before Ga. 317 and hazmat officials responded to evaluate the leaking diesel fuel.

“The fuel was contained to a ditch in the center median of the roadway and did not immediately threaten any waterways,” Rutledge said.

A private company will mitigate the fuel that spilled into the center median ditch. State transportation officials sanded the roadway where fuel spilled in travel lanes, Rutledge said.
