The Braselton Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Braselton Police and Municipal Court Building, 5040 State Route 53 to discuss two amendments to the city’s development code.

The first amendment will create a definition for an ‘Extended Stay Hotel’ and ‘Extended Stay Motel’, and separate the two categories from ‘Hotel’ and ‘Motel’ as a use category. The amendment will also classify ‘Extended Stay Hotel’ and ‘Extended Stay Motel’ as a conditional use in zoning classifications where a hotel or motel is permitted, and prohibit extended stay hotels and motels where hotels and motels are not permitted.

The second development code amendment will create a definition for ‘24 Hour Restaurant’ to separate the category from other restaurant use categories. The change would allow a ‘24 hour Restaurant’ within 750 feet of an interstate right-of-way where a restaurant use is presently permitted. Outside 750 feet of an interstate right-of-way a ‘24 Hour Restaurant’ would be allowed as a conditional use where restaurants are presently permitted. If the amendment is approved, a ‘24 Hour Restaurant’ will not be permitted where restaurants are not currently permitted.

Following the planning commission’s public hearing and recommendations, the Braselton Mayor and Town Council will hold a public hearing on the same code amendments at 4 p.m. Feb 8.
