The Braselton Police Department has earned official state certification, making the agency one of 96 in the state with that distinction.

The agency’s designation will run through 2015, according to the city. The certification process took three years.

Frank V. Rotondo, executive director of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, made the presentation to Braselton Police Chief Terry Esco and the Town Council this week.

"This is a competent, professional agency," he told the Town Council.
