North Georgia students learned in December they were Early Summer awardees of the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships. Among the students receiving the scholarships are Gabriella Fleck of Cumming who is majoring in Spanish and will study in Spain and Melissa Silva of Gainesville who is majoring in Spanish and will study in Spain.

Kierra Bradshaw and Treyvon Richardson of Covington, Matthew Buggs and Calvin Carter of Ellenwood, Chynna Calloway, Ramone Ward and Benjy Parrish of Decatur, Shakia Harris and Devonte Stewart of Atlanta and Yohana Teshome of Tucker graduated from Jackson State University located in Jackson, Mississippi in the fall.

Oglethorpe University junior and Clarkston High graduate Claudine Niyonsenga has received the U.S. Department of State's Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to study abroad during the 2019 spring semester.

Nala Bishop, from Lawrenceville and Elizabeth Rodriguez, from Powder Springs were awarded the Evans Scholarship, a full housing and tuition college grant offered to golf caddies, following a final selection interview held at Capital City Club in Atlanta, on Jan. 22.

Martin Sullivan of Atlanta graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic's Florida campus in Port Orange, Fla., on Dec. 14.
