A North Georgia woman is facing DUI and child endangerment charges after a crash that injured her 6-year-old son, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Elizabeth Tooley, 35, of Cleveland, was southbound on Ga. 75 in Cleveland on Sunday night when the one-car wreck happened, according to the GSP.

Her Ford Focus went off the right shoulder, overcorrected, went back onto the road and into the northbound lane, the GSP said. The car hit a curb, went down an embankment and hit a tree head-on.

Her son, who was in the rear passenger seat, “was not in a child restraint of any kind,” according to Cpl. Spencer Munger of the GSP.

The child was flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, according to accesswdun.com. He was listed in critical but stable condition.

Tooley was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Tooley also was charged with serious injury by vehicle, failure to maintain lane, child restraint violation and not wearing a seatbelt, the GSP said.
