A 44-year-old Bowden woman died Tuesday night when she was hit by a vehicle, the Georgia State Patrol said.

The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. on Ga. 100 south of Fountain Road in Carroll County.

Authorities said Anita Smith parked her Chevrolet Aveo partially in the road in a curved area and went to the passenger’s side. She and her vehicle were hit by a GMC Sierra as she was returning to the driver’s side, the GSP said. Smith died at the scene.

The investigation is continuing, but no charges are expected to be filed in the case, the GSP said.
