A Fulton County jury Tuesday convicted a man of murder and aggravated assault after an apparent argument over a "borrowed" gun.

Aaron Overton, 18, was sentenced to life in prison for fatally shooting 20-year-old Steve McQuire in December 2007.

During the week-long trial, Overton admitted confronting McQuire on the night of the incident about returning a gun the victim had borrowed, court officials said.

Overton told the court that when McQuire refused to return the gun, a dispute started. He claimed he pulled a gun and fired in self-defense, thinking that McQueen was reaching for a gun, according to court officials.

But police found no weapon on McQueen's dead body, authorities said.
