A waitress accused of killing her boss to get $150 to pay a bill was granted a $450,000 bond in DeKalb County on Friday.
Imani Burns, the reportedly cash-strapped 23-year-old, remained in jail later in the day, according to online records. She is charged with murder in the death of the beloved 33-year-old owner of Tucker’s Mai Thai restaurant, who was gunned down in a robbery last month.
While granting her bond, Judge Fulton Hiller denied to do so for co-defendant Jarvis Stanford, 23, the DeKalb County District Attorney's Office said.
The pair, a couple, both reportedly admitted to setting up Somphot "Joey" Aromsuk, 33, while he was locking up the Hugh Howell Road restaurant.
Stanford is accused of pulling the trigger while Burns waited in the car, according to police.
Aromsuk had agreed to let Burns work extra shifts to earn the money for her TitleMax bill, but he declined to give her an advance, police said.
