The man charged with the fatal shooting of a cab driver in East Point was ordered held without bond until his next hearing later this month.

At a Tuesday morning hearing at the Fulton County Jail, bond was denied for 19-year-old Danny Kirtz, who is charged with murder, kidnapping, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime in the shooting death of Day and Night taxi driver Jacke Rainey.

Jail spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan said Kirtz's next court appearance was set for 9 a.m. on Aug. 30 in Fulton Superior Court.

Taxi dispatchers said Rainey, the father of three children, called to report being shot at 4 a.m. on Aug. 7, but his radio immediately went silent.

Police searched for the cab for hours before a woman called to report finding Rainey in his taxi at the entrance to Oak Knoll Elementary School. He had been shot multiple times.

Kirtz was arrested on Saturday.
