Cherokee County rescue divers found the body of a missing fisherman Wednesday evening. Officials don’t suspect foul play.

The department responded to a report of a missing man at about 7 p.m. and spoke with fishermen who said they'd seen a man walk up a dock ramp who hadn't returned, according to the fire department's Facebook page.

His fishing gear, shoes, bag and cell phone were still on the dock.

Ricky Collett, a battalion chief with the county fire and emergency services, got the dive team to Little River Marina, 6986 Bells Ferry Road in Canton.

After 15 minutes of searching, a diver found the man’s body in about 10 feet of water.

The department said the man was 46 years old but didn’t identify him, nor was an official immediately available for comment Thursday night.

Investigators continue to look into cause of death.
