Bobby Tillman vigil

Vigil was held Tuesday in Douglasville for Bobby Tillman, the 18-year-old who was stomped to death in a random act of violence over the weekend.

Classmates and friends of Bobby Tillman laugh while telling stories about him at the vigil. According to witnesses, Tillman was attacked as he and a group of teens tried to leave a Douglasville house party Saturday night. The witnesses said the incident began as a spat between two girls, one of whom struck a boy, who angrily declared that while he would not hit a girl, he'd hit the next boy he saw. That boy was Bobby Tillman, whose fatal beating was over in a minute, witnesses said.

Students from Chapel Hill High School and rival Douglas County High School hold hands up in prayer. District Attorney David McDade said the crime, witnessed by dozens of young bystanders, is among the most heinous of his 30-year career.
