Board choses new name for Cobb school

Cobb County's school board is expected to change the name of Austell Intermediate School to Hendricks Elementary School at its next board meeting. Elizabeth Hendricks, a former teacher at Powder Springs and Milford Elementary schools was involved in the civil rights movement and named Teacher of the Year in 1980. Elizabeth Hendricks and her husband George, also an educator, owned cotton fields in the area where Austell Intermediate is located today.
