Fayette County residents with at least one year of appraisal experience are eligible to apply for an unexpired term on the Board of Assessors that ends Dec. 31. The three-member board meets on the third Thursday of each month in Fayetteville to determine the fair market value of real and personal property for tax purposes.

Members must be at least 21 years old, have a high school or equivalent diploma, complete an assessor examination and take approved appraisal courses. Compensation is $22.05 per hour, but members may not hold any county, state or municipal office while serving on the board.
