Decatur’s school board approved conceptual plans for redesigning and rebuilding Renfroe Middle and Decatur High schools from among four options for each site.

The Renfroe option keeps more of the existing building intact than the other options. It keeps the school’s front on College Avenue, keeps the playing fields in back, and is the second cheapest option at $34.7 million.

The Decatur High option will cost close to 56 million, will include a new cafeteria, kitchen and media center, a new gym on the property’s south side and 358 parking spaces.
