The Forsyth County Civil Service Board affirmed an earlier decision Thursday sustaining the county's dismissal of former planning director Jeff Chance. The board upheld Chance's firing last December after sexually and racially charged emails were found on his office computer.

But Chance appealed the decision to Superior Court, arguing he should have his $92,000-a-year job back because politics played the dominant role in his dismissal. The court then directed the Civil Service Board to reconsider the evidence to determine whether Chance's claims were legitimate.
