ORIGINAL STORY

An East Cobb Mexican restaurant failed it latest food service inspection conducted by the Cobb and Douglas Public Health Department.

Cazadores Mexican Restaurant at 2731 Sandy Plains Road in Marietta scored at 52, or U, on its July 31 inspection. According to the report, the inspector noted one employee washed his hands for less than 10 seconds and turned off the running water with bare hands.

The inspector also found blood on the lids of raw chicken and beef containers, dried food debris on a can opener blade, black substance inside the ice machine, an employee restroom without soap and no sanitizer in the kitchen, the report shows.

Other violations include salsa, raw beef and chicken being held above 41 degrees Fahrenheit, food stored without labels, raw beef stored directly inside grocery bags, empanadas stored directly in between layers of cloth inside the cooler, no mop sink inside the restaurant, a dirty broom and mop stored next to canned and dry goods, and debris on the floor and on the walls beneath the three-compartment sink, the report adds.

A re-inspection has been scheduled for Aug. 12. Cazadores’ previous food service scores were 83, or B, which was given in April 2018, and 90, or A, which it earned in October 2016.

A manager who answered the phone told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution said the restaurant will be "fixing everything" outlined in the report.
