A Thursday afternoon fire heavily damaged a mobile home just east of Woodstock.

Cherokee County and Woodstock firefighters were called to 987 Wiley Bridge Road about 1:40 found roughly half the structure on fire. Officials said it started after resident Jeremy Hawkins, 34, put a cigarette he thought was out into a garbage can. He noticed smoke coming out of the front door while outside moments later.

Fire, water and smoke extensively damaged the home, but nobody was hurt.
