The 50-year-old bicyclist who collided with a car in Sandy Springs on Sunday morning was released Tuesday from North Fulton Regional Hospital.

Police said Walter Anthony Haber of Atlanta was wearing a helmet and that prevented more serious injury.

Haber was southbound on Powers Ferry Road at 10 a.m. when a Jaguar crossed in front of him at the intersection of North Powers Ferry Road, police said.

"He hit the car and was thrown over," Lt. Steve Rose said. Police said Haber landed on pine straw off the roadway.

The driver, Aaron Fuchs of Sandy Springs, was charged with failing to yield. Fuchs was ordered to appear in traffic court on Jan. 20.
