Chief executive officer of The King Center and civil rights leader Bernice King and Chick-fil-A executive Andrew Cathy are among 84 selected to take part in Leadership Atlanta’s 2020 training program.
“We are thrilled to welcome our 50th Class,” President and CEO Pat Upshaw-Monteith said in a news release. “We are proud to continue Leadership Atlanta’s tradition of bringing together the region’s most influential, engaged, and creative leaders dedicated to working together for the greater good. We can’t wait to see what innovative ideas the Class of 2020 brings.”
Formed in 1969, Leadership Atlanta is one of the oldest running training programs of its kind in the country. Other notable members include Spelman College president Mary Schmidt Campbell and vice president of operations at Cox Automotive, Richard Cox.
Cox is also chief operating officer for the City of Atlanta. Cox Automotive is owned by Cox Enterprises, the parent company of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
For nine months, leaders in a myriad of industries — including education, law, media, healthcare, technology, and politics — will learn more about regional issues through retreats, full-day seminars, service projects, community tours, and discussion groups.
