The Berkeley Lake City Council ratified the Code of Conduct for 2015 on Jan. 15.

A previous council spent all day in a work session with a University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government consultant developing the Code of Conduct, said Mayor Lois Salter. The new code calls for each council member to ratify the Code of Conduct anew annually.

Highlights of the Code of Conduct include a commitment to impartiality when making decisions. Ethics violations of the code include coercing individuals to achieve a private objective, accepting gifts or favors with a value of more than $50, multiple gifts totaling $100 from any single source, or from any person regulating and conducting business within the city.
