Early voting began this week in Berkeley Lake on a referendum to decide whether the city should issue $2.8 million in general obligation bonds for  dam repairs at its 88-acre lake. Early voting is being held at City Hall from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday until March 10. The election will be March 15.

Berkeley Lake has an 85-foot-high dam with two cracks in it, caused by September 2009 flooding. City leaders in June raised the property tax rate by 33 percent to help pay for the dam.
