Alpharetta officials have approved the merger of two popular baseball programs operated in local parks.

The city will create the Alpharetta Youth Baseball Association to incorporate the Webb Bridge Park Association with the Wills Park Youth Baseball Association. City and league officials say they hope the merger will create a unified program and increase the volunteer base and resources.

The merger was announced following two public hearings held by the Alpharetta Recreation Commission.
