A long-term closure of an exit ramp from U.S. 41, and an open house on a proposed widening of Old Alabama Road, have been announced for the Cartersville area of Bartow County by the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Beginning Friday, the ramp from southbound U.S. 41 to U.S. 411 south has been closed while crews construct a new ramp to open in February, GDOT said. In the meantime, the recommended detour is to continue south on U.S. 41, turn right on Felton Road, and follow Felton back to U.S. 411.

A newly constructed ramp from southbound U.S. 41 to northbound U.S. 411 remains open, GDOT said. The interchange project is to be completed in April at a cost of nearly $38 million.

Separately, GDOT announced an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, on the proposed widening of Old Alabama Road from Rockmart Highway (Ga. 113) to Paga Mine Road. The meeting will take place at Woodland High School, 800 Old Alabama Road SE, Cartersville.

Attendees will be able to review the project, ask questions and express concerns, GDOT said.
