The funeral will be Friday for the 2-year-old boy found unresponsive in his family’s Bartow County swimming pool. But the boy’s mother won’t be allowed to leave jail, where she’s being held on a murder charge.

Jagger Reese Settles died May 29, the day he was pulled from an above-ground swimming pool. Hours later, the boy’s mother, Bobbie Jessica Prather, was arrested and charged with murder, the Bartow Sheriff’s Office said.

Prather, 32, allegedly left her four children alone for 14 hours before Jagger was found, according to investigators. She was also charged four counts of first-degree cruelty to children, one charge for each child she left alone. Prather’s surviving children were removed from the home and remained in protective custody Thursday, police said.

Prather, who is being held without bond, will not be allowed to leave jail to attend the funeral, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday in Owen Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Josh James officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Bascomb Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery in Woodstock.

Prosecutors said Bobbie Prather, 32, left the 3-year-old unsupervised for more than 14 hours.
