A 27-year-old man babysitting a 2-year-old was arrested on charges that he was responsible for the girl's life-threatening head injuries, Marietta police said Saturday.

Humberto Hernandez-Pineda of Marietta is charged with cruelty to children  and aggravated battery.

Police officers were called to an apartment on Franklin Road just before midnight Friday to discover the case of suspected child abuse. The name of the child was not released nor was her condition.
