The 9-month-old baby attacked in her crib by two raccoons was at home Friday, 12 days after she was hospitalized.

The baby was sleeping in a crib in the same room with her mother when the raccoons attacked her, severely biting her on the head and body. She was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston in critical condition around 4 a.m. Nov. 3.

When Newton County deputies arrived, the raccoons were outside the family’s house, according to Lt. Tyrone Oliver.

Deputies shot one of the raccoons when it became aggressive, but it got away. The second raccoon was captured and tested negative for rabies.

The baby was inoculated.
