Avondale Estates recently received the national designation “Classic Main Street,” one of roughly 100 cities in Georgia so honored. The designation gives the city access to a number of professional and design services like building design, site planning, parking design and other services for low or no cost and very low interest loans for commercial businesses and building rehabilitation. Last March, Avondale approved its Downtown Master Plan, which outlines redevelopment for much of its downtown and U.S. 278, the city’s main thoroughfare.
