The history of Avondale Estates will be the focus of a lecture later this month at the DeKalb History Center.

Terry Martin, the author of a photo book on the town, will speak from noon to 1 p.m. Nov. 17 at the center, in the Old Courthouse on the Square in Decatur.

The event is part of the history center’s archives lecture series and focuses on Avondale, which was founded in 1924 by George Francis Willis after a trip to Stratford-upon-Avon.
