A man struck and killed on I-85 in northeast Atlanta early Sunday has been identified.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office on Monday identified the man as David Warren, 30, of New York.

“The vehicle that struck him first was stopped just ahead,” Atlanta police spokesman Donald Hannah said. “According to a driver, and three separate witnesses, the deceased ran out onto the interstate and in front of the car.”

Hannah said investigators believe the man was struck by at least one more car after the initial collision.

Warren was found in the southbound lanes near the Cheshire Bridge Road exit when Atlanta police arrived.

A witness told Channel 2 Action News he thinks Warren got out of a disabled black Camaro that was in the center lane of I-85 about 4 a.m. Sunday. All southbound lanes of I-85 were shut down until about 6:45 a.m. Sunday.
