Georgia Department of Natural Resources rangers continued a search Monday for a man who went missing Sunday near Lake Lanier.

DNR spokesman Mark McKinnon said Jerry Kornmeier, 57, was last known to be in the Cocktail Cove area, where authorities found his boat.

“DNR rangers are searching the water in and around the cove this morning using side scan sonar,” McKinnon said.

Hall and Forsyth county sheriff’s officials are assisting in the search.

“We found his boat adrift in open water out from Cocktail Cove last night,” McKinnon told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday.

This is the second time in less than a week that a man went missing in the area. Authorities confirmed a body recovered Thursday from Lake Lanier was a missing DeKalb County firefighter.

In early April, a group of fishermen found a badly decomposed body that turned out to be missing Winder teenEstelle Kouassi.
