Cobb Commissioners approved design plans Tuesday night for the new Austell Senior Center.

The new center will be completed in March and located in Clarkdale Park on Austell Powder Springs Road. The new facility replaces the original Austell center in Legion Park that was destroyed in the September 2009 floods. The center had been flooded twice in four years and seniors had been meeting in a temporary space in Powder Springs since the 2009 flood.

The new center is paid for largely with federal grant funds.
