The Austell City Council voted 5-0-1 Monday to change the city’s insurance carrier from the Georgia Municipal Association to Key Risk during a special called meeting.

The city is expected to save around $90,000 on its workers’ compensation insurance.

Councilwoman Kirsten Anderson was absent.

The vote had to be taken before Dec. 31 because the policy goes into effect one minute after midnight on Jan. 1.
