The Austell City Council decided on May 6 to award two contracts for street paving and striping.

For $29,900, the low bidder PKS Paving will mill and pave Grace Street.

Then for almost $23,710, the low bidder Highway Services will stripe Jefferson Street.

Public Works Department Director Bo Garrison said all of the resurfacing money has been used.

However, he said Special Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) money still is available from other city funds.

Garrison explained that a list of resurfacing projects are listed by categories with four being the worst.

“We’re at the tail end of (category) three,” he added.
