The Austell City Council has voted to keep the millage rate at 3.06, the same as last year’s.

Finance Director Denise Soesbee said Monday the millage rate had been 4 only in Fiscal Year 2014, from July 1 to June 30, but was 3.123 as far back as at least 2006 when she began working for the city.

Soesbee said Cobb officials have told her they will not increase fees “for the next year or so” so that the city can continue to offset the 3.06 millage rate to zero.

The reason is the city has its own fire and police departments, she added.
