The Austell City Council voted 6-0 Monday to raise its building permit fees that had not been increased since 2006.

A $50 base fee was added to residential building.

Permit calculations were increased from $3.50 to $4 per $1,000 of residential construction cost and from $4 to $5 per $1,000 of commercial construction cost.

For residential and commercial plumbing, 19 fees were added, ranging from $2.50 to $5 per unit.

For instance, the cost for each washing machine is $2.50.

For heating, ventilating and air conditioning, 29 new fees range from $10 to $30.

As an example, the fee for a dryer vent is $10.
