The Austell City Council has agreed to spend $214,219 for three new sidewalk projects.

The Corbett Group was the low bidder.

Four- and five-foot sidewalks, curbing, handicap-accessible ramps, handrail and retaining walls will be added where needed.

Streets to be paved are Sweetwater Valley Road from Greystone Place to Clay Road, Washington Street Extension from Fessenden Avenue to the cul-de-sac and Austell-Powder Springs Road - Phase 2 from Legion Park to Owens Drive.

To be funded by the special local option sales tax, the $214,219 includes a 20 percent contingency of $35,703 for any unforeseen circumstances.
