The Austell City Council approved 6-0 Monday the expenditure of $164,255 for sidewalk improvements on Veterans Memorial Highway.

Under the Austell bridge overpass, 250 linear feet of sidewalk will be added along with guardrails and handrails.

The contract was awarded to Reeves Contracting Co.

Also, the council agreed to pay $35,501 to Vermeer Southeast Sales and Service for a new brush chipper to replace the 14-year-old chipper.
