Metro Atlanta commuters can expect a break from the rain during the morning drive, but scattered showers and possible heavy rain will return to some parts of the area later in the day, Channel 2 Action News meteorologists said.

Temperatures are expected to reach the upper 80s and low 90s today, said Channel 2’s Karen Minton.

Between Friday and Monday, some areas of metro Atlanta were expected to see as much as 2 to 3 inches of rain. Those rain chances are back this week, with today and Tuesday the best chances for rain, Minton said.

In addition to watching the sky, commuters should also watch their speed today. Georgia is one of several states that will be cracking down on speeders in a national, "Operation Southern Shield," speed enforcement operation. The enforcement operation runs through July. 22
