Enjoy today's sunny weather, because rain will move into metro Atlanta on Wednesday and could be heavy at times by Thursday. This afternoon's highs are expected to reach the low 60s under clear skies.
Skies will become mostly cloudy overnight, with lows in the low 40s, the National Weather Service said.
A 40 percent chance of rain is forecast for Wednesday, increasing to 80 percent Wednesday night and 90 percent on Thursday.
The Weather Service said that while one computer model indicates 1 to 2 inches of rain across north Georgia on Thursday, another model is predicting as much as 4 to 5 inches.
If the second model turns out to be more accurate, "flooding my become an issue across north Georgia Thursday," the Weather Service said.
The rain should taper off Thursday night, leaving mostly sunny skies for Friday and Saturday before another weather system brings a chance of rain on Sunday.
Highs this week will be in the mid-50s to low 60s, with lows in the 40s.
