The overnight showers that dampened metro Atlanta roadways were moving out of the area just before daybreak, and Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said the morning clouds will give way to sunny skies by the afternoon.

Nitz said those sunny skies will hang around for much of the week, with highs warming from the low to mid-70s on Monday to the mid- to upper 70s Tuesday and Wednesday.

Overnight lows will be in the low to mid-50s this week.

Nitz is forecasting a 30 percent chance of rain on Thursday and Friday. Highs will still be in the mid-70s on Thursday, Nitz said, but should only reach the low 60s on Friday.
