Rain that was heavy at times on Sunday had diminished to mostly drizzle by the Monday morning commute, but a chance of showers remains in the forecast through midweek.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said the chance of rain is 40 percent on Monday and 20 percent Tuesday and Wednesday, with sunny skies forecast for Thursday and Friday.

Highs this week will be in the mid-70s on Monday and in the low 80s Tuesday through Friday, with overnight lows in the low 60s.

Weekend rainfall totals ranged from 1.13 inches near Mableton to 1.46 inches in Marietta, Chamblee and Dunwoody and 1.56 inches in Dallas.

Atlanta’s official rain gauge at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport recorded 1.46 inches, bringing the city’s rainfall total for the year to 15.95 inches, a deficit of 2.71 inches.
