A rising sophomore at Grady High School is one of 15 students from the United States picked to study marine science at the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary off the coast of California this summer.

Justin Cucchi’s was selected from nearly 400 applicants to participate in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Ocean for Life program from June 22 to July 4.

The 30-student program brings together scholars from Middle Eastern and North American high schools to learn about the ocean and stewardship of the planet.
