An Atlanta high school student who created a cake business is being honored with a national award.

JuShawn Carter, a senior at Benjamin E. Mays High School in southwest Atlanta, will receive the Global Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Atlanta region on April 23 at the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship Gala in New York.

Carter launched her business, CakesbyFourteen, when she was 14 years old.

Carter said she learned how to run her business from a program called Youth Entrepreneurs Georgia, which offers classes in nine Atlanta high schools.
